There hasn't been an obstacle I couldn't get around to publish Wordless News — until yesterday.
My grandfather had open heart surgery. I attempted to get up and read the news extra early before heading to the hospital but I just couldn't find the concentration. I quickly realized I needed to save my energy for my family as we lingered in the waiting room.
I am so happy to say that the surgery went well and my grandfather is recovering.
Wordless News is back up and running per usual. I appreciate your understanding my absence yesterday and I am always thankful for the followers and cheerleaders who bring me so much encouragement.

It was so exciting and fun to work with the brilliant minds over at the Shots blog to produce these images.
This morning marks the one year anniversary of Wordless News. I had no idea that a little doodle of a fancy hat would change my career and daily routine in such a grand way. I am so thankful for all of the support that my friends and family have shown over the past year. It has been absolutely fun, exhausting, and truly rewarding. And I cannot express my gratitude to all of the strangers who have started following along and reached out with messages of encouragement and thanks. I plan to continue Wordless News in the foreseeable future and am excited for the opportunities this project has given me to grow in so many ways. P.S. Currently there is a winter storm showering my studio and the possibility of power loss is considerable. If Wordless News disappears for the next two days just know that it isn't a vacation, it's the lack of electricity keeping me from posting. Stay warm!
I can not express how excited I am to be collaborating with Morning Edition this coming week! This project has been in the works for a while but I've kept it quiet. My little interview with David Greene went on air to introduce the project this past Friday and I had an overwhelming response from strangers all over the country. I am surprised and grateful for all of the thoughtful comments and well wishes that have come my way. I'm so encouraged and motivated for this coming week.
